The autumn leaves had been on the grass for a while now as I haven’t had chance to pick them up. Luckily, last Saturday was sunny (but still freezing) so I took the opportunity to head outside with a grass rake and a few bin bags to have a bit of a tidy-up.
It didn’t take long to sweep up the leaves from the cherry tree but the wisteria leaves posed a bit of a problem because they’re small. This was solved by using the lawn mower to Hoover them up. I changed the blade height to the highest since a close shave at this time of year may well be its last.
Although most of the grass is OK, a season of plants flopping onto it followed by a month or two smothered with leaves left several areas looking very scratty indeed.
Though there are a few choices, some of which involve careful re-seeding or expensive lawn treatment and time-consuming pampering, we all know that the only reasonable course of action is to get the lawn-edger and cut out the affected parts, turning them into border land. That’s the fun part I’ve been looking forward to all this time.

Yes! The more lawn dug up, the better.
Hi Jason, I couldn’t agree more.
