Welcoming All Groups
You don't need to be a group just focussed on gardens to visit. See the various groups we can welcome to the garden as an alternative event or interesting activity.
Gardening Clubs
Obviously, for the garden. With an introductory talk about the garden design, style, growing conditions and its 9-year development, be inspired by the borders, flick through various gardening books and ply your most pressing horticultural questions to the garden owner.
Cake or dining Clubs
The garden is renowned for its cakes. Why not visit to enjoy a range of fabulously decadent desserts all set within a stunning garden for a truly memorable summer afternoon.
Photography Clubs
The garden is a riot of colour and life, designed with enticing views, hidden corners and sudden reveals. There’s endless inspiration for budding and advanced photographers to capture the romantic essence of the garden, from the sweeping borders down to the smallest details.
Art and Drawing Clubs
Choose your spot in the garden, choose your medium and choose your subject. Spend an afternoon bringing the magic of the garden onto canvass, see and discuss how others have done the same.
Yoga, Stretching, Exercise and Meditation
Bring a yoga mat, find a spot on the Rectangle and relax, meditate, stretch and exercise surrounded by exuberant borders and buzzing insect life. Be transported away from the everyday and enjoy an afternoon in a most unique exercise studio.
Committee Events
Host a committee meeting or AGM with a difference, with space and seating available for 20+ attendees. Drinks and refreshments available to encourage discussions.
Group Visitor Information
If you are responsible for arranging a group visit, please read the following information that will give you the details you need to determine whether a group visit by arrangement is suitable for you.
Car Parking
The garden is located on a quiet residential estate with ample on-street parking. Later arrivals may need to park further away on the estate and walk an extra minute or two to the garden. Please be considerate of of other estate residents when parking.
Directions
Please be aware there are separate entrance and exit roads to the estate where the Garden is located. Be aware of the working 30mph traffic cameras on Sandhurst high street. Refer to Google Maps at the bottom of the page for directions. Use Sat-Nav postcode GU47 8PN.
Coaches
While the on-street parking can easily accommodate cars and mini-busses, there is unfortunately insufficient space for larger (25-seater+) coaches. The entrance/exit to the estate also prevents access to these larger vehicles.
Disabled access
We regret that we cannot safely accommodate wheelchair users. Those with restricted mobility should be aware that there is a gravel drive to the Garden entrance followed by some short steps. The rest of the garden is gently sloping and mostly accessible via grass paths.
Group Numbers
There is a minimum requirement of 15 people for a visit by arrangement. Final group numbers must be confirmed prior to visiting to allow for sufficient catering.
Introductory Talk
Once all group visitors have gathered, there will be a short (15-minute) introductory talk, given by the garden owner. Topics will cover garden design, style, growing conditions and challenges over the garden's nine-year development.
Cancellations
Once a date for a visit by arrangement is confirmed, it can be cancelled at any time up to two weeks before. The Garden can cancel a group visit in the event of an exceptional or other emergency, (including e.g. severe weather warnings). All money, less incurred expenses, is refunded in the event of a cancellation.
Payment
Payment method (i.e. by cash, cheque or BACS) is agreed between the Garden and Group prior to the visit. Payment can be prior to the visit, or on-the-day. Cashless is accepted on site for drinks and cakes.
What's Included
The group entry price per person includes entry to the garden until close, one slice of cake and one drink. You're not limited to just one though, extra drinks and cake are available to purchase for ravenous appetites.
Plant Sales
There may be a small selection of plants and seed for sale, depending on the visit date, but this is not guaranteed and should not be expected. Please do not take seeds and cuttings from the plants in the Garden.
Pre-Visit Visit
If you are responsible for arranging a group visit, you are welcome to visit the Garden prior to any agreed date to determine any details you require. Please contact us to arrange such a visit (of course, at no cost).
Alcohol
The Garden is not licensed to sell alcohol due to the significant amount of paperwork involved in obtaining the legal permits required; in addition, we request that you do not bring your own.
Facilities
As we are a private Garden, bathroom facilities are not generally available to visitors. Hand sanitiser is available on request. Domestic-sanitised crockery and cutlery is used for the refreshments.
Insurance
The Garden at 13 Broom Acres is covered by the Public Liability Insurance provided by the National Garden Scheme. Every effort is made to sign-post hazards such as steps and uneven surfaces to keep visitors safe and prevent accidents. There is a First-Aid kit on site.
Photography
Photography for personal, non-commercial use is allowed in the Garden. For commercial photography, please get in touch to agree arrangements prior to your visit. As a Garden visitor, you may be in photographs taken by the Garden helpers and volunteers, to be used for non-commercial purposes.
Food Allergies
As a private garden, we cannot fully label all ingredients in the refreshments served nor guarantee them to be free of certain allergens. Please take care and ask for advice if you feel you may be at risk.
